The World Butcher’s Challenge is a competition in which teams of six from across the globe have three and ¼ hours to turn a side of Beef,
Pork, a Lamb and five chickens into a first-class butchery display.
Each team is judged by a panel of expert industry judges on their preparation, presentation, finishing and display.
The competition originated in 2011, as a ‘Trans-Tasman Butchers’ Challenge’, held between New Zealand and Australia.
In 2013, the competition transformed into the Tri-Nation’s Butchers’ Challenge when Britain joined the competition.
The challenge became the World Butchers’ Challenge in 2016 as France attended for the first time.
In 2018 the competition has grown phenomenally and involved twelve countries from around the globe!
The 2018 competition and study tour was held in March in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Australian Pork are proud sponsors of the Australian Steelers team and also of the Apprentice and Young Butcher competitions.
